Executive Management Biographies: Smith Concrete Truck on Parade

 

Mike Murphy – Vice President of Concrete/General Manager:

Murphy joined Smith Concrete in 1979 as a sales representative.  Since that time he has held several positions within Smith, including plant manager and Secretary-Treasurer.  He was promoted to his current position in 1990 and purchased Smith, along with Bob Price, in 1992.  In 2002, Smith was sold to Oldcastle and now operates as a division of Shelly Materials.  He is currently responsible for management of the day-to-day operations of Smith.

Prior to Smith Concrete, Murphy was employed as a sales representative and customer service representative for The Ames Company.  He graduated from West Virginia University in 1975 and has been active in the Ohio Ready-Mixed Concrete Association Concrete Futures, serving as its President in 1990.

 

Ross Snyder - Vice President of Sales:

Snyder joined Smith Concrete in 1994.  He is responsible for all functions related to sales and marketing at Smith Concrete and manages a team of four sales representatives.

Prior to Smith Concrete, Snyder worked 10 years for The Ames Company as both a territory sales manager and a customer service representative.  He graduated from Ohio University in 1983 and served as President of the ORMCA Concrete Futures in 2002.

 

Dick Wilson – Vice President of Operations

Wilson joined Smith Concrete in 1996 as the plant manager of the Cambridge facility.  He was promoted to his current position in January, 2000.  His responsibilities include overseeing all truck and plant maintenance as well as the operations at Smith Concrete’s six stationary plants and three portable plants.

Wilson has nearly 35 years of construction-related experience in the Mid-Ohio Valley region.   He studied electronics for several years following high school.
